Ella Belfer is a third-year student at McGill University, pursuing a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and Environmental Studies, focusing on ecological economics and degrowth. Over the past two years, she has been actively involved in her campus’s divestment campaign, mobilizing students, faculty and alumni to pressure the university to divest from fossil fuel companies, and envisioning positive opportunities for investment in sustainable alternatives. Working at McGill’s student union as a Political Campaigns Coordinator, she has also been working to broaden awareness of climate justice and the social impacts of climate change on her campus.

Before joining SEI, Ella worked as a Communications Fellow at the New Economy Institute, and as an intern for Senator Elizabeth Warren. In her spare time, she enjoys reading, hiking, and napping outdoors.
