Title: Associate Director
Location: Cambridge, Massachusetts
The Sustainable Endowments Institute is seeking a highly motivated and reliable individual for the newly created position of Associate Director. The Associate Director will be a core member of the leadership team and will help set and achieve the Institute’s strategic goals. The Associate Director will also assist in managing the College Sustainability Report Card project team. The Report Card is the only independent sustainability evaluation of campus operations and endowment investments at schools in the United States and Canada. The Sustainable Endowments Institute is a nonprofit organization engaged in research and education to advance sustainability in university campus operations and endowment practices. The Institute’s work has been featured in hundreds of print, radio, TV and online media outlets including the Boston Globe, CNN Money, Chronicle of Higher Education, Grist, Chronicle of Philanthropy, USA Today and the PBS newsmagazine NOW.
Founded in 2005, the Institute is a special project of Rockefeller Philanthropy Advisors and receives support from donors including the Energy Action Coalition, Nathan Cummings Foundation, Rockefeller Brothers Fund, Roy A. Hunt Foundation, and V. Kann Rasmussen Foundation.

Responsibilities:
The Associate Director’s job duties include, but are not limited to:
• Working with Institute staff on current and new research
• Managing a team of undergraduate and graduate student research fellows
• Leading workshops on campus and working with students
• Coordinating communication with both new and existing funders
• Assisting the Executive Director with strategic planning and scheduling
• Giving presentations on college campuses and at conferences
• Identifying and hiring student interns and research fellows
• Developing innovative outreach strategies.
Qualifications:
• Experience in advancing sustainability on college campuses
• At least two years of relevant work experience
• Excellent organizational and project management skills
• Prior experience with grant writing and/or other fundraising activities desirable
• Strong oral and written communication skills
• Public speaking experience desirable
• High level of proficiency in Word, Excel and PowerPoint and email communication
• Self-directed performance leadership
• Flexible and cooperative work ethic
• Bachelor’s degree in related field, Masters or other graduate level degree desirable.
Compensation:
Competitive compensation commensurate with experience.
